1. I was drawn to your IG because of your sense of humor and it seems like your clients become your friends. Tell me about your business. How did you get started? What inspired you to start? I originally started lashing at a well-known lash lounge in town in 2013; I was doing facials at the time, and it was just not making ends meet. It just so happened that this certain lash place was hiring inexperienced lash artists! I applied, got hired, and was trained. I immediately fell in love with the industry. Helping people instantly feel more confident about themselves— HELL YES! Within a couple months my left my other job and was lashing full time. Since then, it has been quite the journey to get where I am today, I’ve worked for 2 other lash lounges in town, and I’ve tried being on my own in between. Forever learning from my mistakes and trying to get it all right. But that’s the beauty of evolving. I guess I’m just always trying to outdo my past self.
2. Tell me more about all the services you provide and what your client experience is like. As of right now I only offer lash extensions. I’ve been debating if I want to add on lash lifts, brow laminations, lash education. As of lately, even tiny tattoos. We’ll see what happens.. The second my clients walk in, I greet their super cute selves, ask if they need any water or to use the restroom before we start. They lie down, I tuck them in with a cozy blanket. We then go over what kind of look they’d like, they show me any inspo pics for me to replicate. I prep their lashes by doing a quick little lash bath. If they’re a returning guest, I’ll comb through their lashes and remove any extensions that are outgrown, so I can replace them with new extensions. From there I apply the set of lashes, one lash at a time. The process takes anywhere from an hour to three hours, depending on what service my client booked. I try to make all my clients feel as comfortable and welcome as possible. I strive to make them feel seen and heard, while giving them gorgeous lashes of course. It’s my favorite thing ever when my clients can be themselves with me. I truly live for the laughs, cries, snores, tmi moments, and impromptu singalongs.
3. Tell me about three 2024 trends you are loving right now. I’m currently loving wet sets (the set you captured me applying was a wet set). It’s a more natural look than thick volume lashes. Think of like a thicker, more textured classic set chefs kiss. I guess this is a reverse.. although I think mega volume has a time and a place, I’m kind of loving that the “Vegas/caterpillary” mega volume trend is phasing out. I’m also loving clients wanting to match their hair color with their lash extensions, it’s so fun adding color to a set.
4. What product/tool can you not live without? Where can we find it? I cannot live without my gold curve tweezers from Livbay. Every time I accidentally drop them, I practically have a heart attack.
5. Can you share what kind of adhesive you use? I currently use Black Pearl adhesive from Lash Apothecary. I’ll be adding Lashbox adhesive to my lineup soon too.
6. Can you share what kind of lashes you use? My favorite lashes are from a local company, N’vied. I love their Luxe series lashes, they’re super matte black.
7. How often do you recommend getting fills? I usually recommend fills every two weeks. Although some clients can push it to 3 weeks, it largely depends on their natural lash shedding cycle.
8. Can you share any tips about how we can best take care of our lashes between appointments? WASH YOUR LASHES! So many clients are afraid to even get their lashes wet in the shower, but by not washing your lashes daily, your makeup, skincare products, natural oils, dead skin, etc. sits on the lashes resulting in bad retention. Another big one is to not pick at them, some clients just mindlessly start messing with them, and they end up unintentionally pulling them out.
9. What do you hope to see more of in the lash industry? I’m always hoping to see more community over competition. I’m here for all the girls’ girl vibes!
10. If you could tell the world one thing, what would it be? It would be to get out of your own head, and to give yourself grace. It’s easy to constantly be self-critical, but we’re all human, we all make mistakes, and have moments of weakness. And I need to take my own advice on this, but don’t let your fear of looking stupid stop you from reaching your goals sister!
